Sovereign WeatherChek Façade Cream is a simple-to-use water repellent for the protection of external masonry against penetrating damp and freeze–thaw damage. It is a viscous emulsion of silane and siloxanes that penetrates and impregnates porous masonry to produce a water-repellent surface. It is applied in a single coat by brush, roller or airless spray to porous substrates such as brick, mortar, render, limestone and sandstone. As a viscous, paste-like emulsion, it is non-drip in application. After curing, the treated surface has a much lower water uptake, helping to prevent penetrating damp and freeze–thaw damage. By preventing rainwater ingress, it also reduces heat transfer, improves the thermal resistance of treated walls and improves the performance of cavity wall insulation. Once dry, the appearance of the surface remains unchanged, and decorative coatings such as masonry paint can still be applied. Whilst providing water repellency, the treatment does not form a vapour barrier and allows the wall to remain breathable.
