Surface Preparation
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and contamination
- Remove loose coatings and defective finishes
- Sand smooth where necessary
- Repair defects prior to priming
- Ensure timber moisture content is suitable before application
Application Instructions
- Apply when temperatures are above 5°C
- Relative humidity should be below 80%
- Apply using automatic brush coaters, vacuum coaters, brushes, or spray equipment
- Apply evenly to achieve full substrate coverage
- Allow sufficient drying before overcoating
Knots & Resinous Timber
Unlike traditional oil-based primers, Biokil Acrylic Wood Primer is largely unaffected by resinous knots once fully dry.
For heavily knotted timber, spot-prime knots with Biokil Acrylic Wood Primer before full application. Where complete resin suppression is required, use a traditional shellac knotting solution before priming.
