ACS Ecobor 20 – wood preservative and surface biocide gel
A boron-based (20% disodium octaborate tetrahydrate with benzalkonium chloride), brushable and injectable gel for timbers at high risk of decay – joist ends, purlins, wall plates, cut ends and rafter ends. It treats dry rot, wet rot and wood-boring insects, and can also be used to sterilise masonry against dry rot, algae and mould fungi. A clean, modern alternative to traditional timber pastes.
Key benefits
- Brushable and injectable multi-use gel – clean and virtually non-drip
- Highly penetrating control of wood-rotting fungi and wood-boring insects
- Clear and non-staining; leaves no surface residue and can be over-painted in time
- Odourless and non-flammable
- Long-lasting – the active ingredient does not break down
- HSE No. 10584
How to use
- Clean timber with a brush or vacuum; lightly dampen very dry or dusty timber.
- Apply a generous brush coat, working well into end grain, corners and joints without overloading the brush. Remove paint or varnish first, or inject through pre-drilled holes where coatings can't be removed.
- Outdoors, protect treated timber from weathering with a suitable coating.
- For masonry: clean down and apply one liberal coat; when treating dry rot, also treat the back of new skirting and architrave before fixing.
Coverage: by brush, 1 litre per 2–2.5m² of timber; large timbers may need further coats or Ecobor 40 paste. By injection, to refusal. Shelf life at least 12 months unopened. Use biocides safely – always read the label and product information before use.
