Overview
Biokil Crown Anti-Mould Thermal Coating is a high-performance interior emulsion designed to protect walls and ceilings from unsightly and potentially harmful black mould while reducing the effects of condensation. Advanced acrylic copolymer technology, integrated biocides and thermal micro-bead technology work together to raise surface temperature, helping to keep surfaces warmer, drier and easier to keep clean.
- Provides up to 5 years’ protection against black mould.
- Reduces condensation by up to 96% with a typical surface temperature increase of 0.5–1.2°C.
- Smooth, washable matt finish with excellent adhesion and water resistance.
- Contains film fungicide and thermal-modified micro-beads for long-lasting hygiene protection.
- Available in White, Magnolia and a range of designer colours (on request).
- Helps landlords demonstrate action under Section 82 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Ideal For
Designed for areas with high humidity and persistent condensation, including:
- Bathrooms, shower rooms and wet rooms
- Kitchens and utility rooms
- Basements, cellars and laundry rooms
- Student lets, HMOs and rental properties
- Hospitals, schools, hotels and food preparation areas
Colours & Pack Sizes
- White – 5L (300TH), 2.5L (301TH)
- Magnolia – 5L (303TH), 2.5L (304TH)
Surface Preparation
- Treat existing mould: Remove all visible mould and contamination using ACS Mould Wash Concentrate. Allow to dry for a minimum of 3–4 hours, preferably overnight, before painting.
- Make good: Repair cracks and surface defects, sand smooth and clean down to remove dust and loose material.
- Priming bare/porous substrates: Apply a thinned first coat of Anti-Mould Thermal Coating (up to 10% clean water) as a primer.
- Conditions: Ensure surfaces are dry, dust-free and the room temperature is between +10°C and +25°C.
For textured wallpapers such as blown vinyl or woodchip, ensure ACS Mould Wash is fully dry before application.
Application
- Stir thoroughly before use.
- Apply 2 full coats by brush or roller. A third coat may be needed over strong background colours.
- Allow 2–4 hours between coats (touch dry in 1–2 hours under normal conditions).
- Coverage: typically 4–6 m² per litre per coat, lower on rough or highly porous surfaces.
On textured, unfinished wallpapers (e.g. woodchip or blown vinyl), only hang wallpaper once ACS Mould Wash is fully dry, then coat the surface with Anti-Mould Thermal Coating as specified.
Use Over Existing Paint
Suitable for most existing matt emulsions. Exercise care over eggshell, silk and vinyl finishes, which may resist over-coating – lightly key these surfaces with an orbital sander or use a suitable primer where necessary. Take extra care when sanding pre-1960s coatings as they may contain lead.
Storage & Shelf Life
- Store in a cool, dry place above 5°C and protect from frost.
- Supplied in 2.5L and 5L HDPE tubs.
- Shelf life: up to 12 months in unopened, original containers.
Health & Safety
- Wear gloves, an FFP3 (minimum) mask and suitable protective clothing during preparation and application.
- Ensure good ventilation while working and during drying.
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes; keep out of reach of children.
- Not suitable for heated surfaces (e.g. radiators).
- For stubborn staining, use an obliterating primer before application.
- Interior use only – always consult the MSDS before use.
