BIOKIL. Heavy Duty Floor Paint – polyurethane alkyd floor paint for concrete & wood
BIOKIL. Heavy Duty Floor Paint is an air-drying, solvent-based polyurethane semi-gloss finish based on a durable alkyd resin.
It is suitable for use on concrete and wooden floors in garages, factories and workshops. It can also be used on some asphalt floors – make a test application to a small area first to ensure the asphalt is not softened or otherwise affected and that the paint dries and hardens satisfactorily.
Key features
- Durable polyurethane finish based on an alkyd resin
- Suitable for concrete and wooden floors
- Approx. 12m² per litre
- Air drying – touch dry in 3 hours in normal dry conditions
Typical applications
- Concrete and wooden garage floors
- Interior factory and workshop floors
- Interior walkways
- Some asphalt floors, after a test application
Preparation
- Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from loose and flaking materials; clean concrete with a heavy duty degreasing agent to remove oil, grease and dirt
- New concrete floors should preferably mature for several months before painting, and be free of dust, grit, cement fines and laitance
- Very dense, smooth concrete (such as power floated) normally needs acid etching to promote adhesion
- Take special precautions when preparing pre-1960s paint surfaces, as they may contain harmful lead
Application
- Stir well before use.
- Apply two coats, allowing overnight drying between coats under normal drying conditions.
- Where necessary, thin the first coat with up to 20% by volume of white spirit to ease application and assist drying.
- Touch dry in 3 hours (longer in cold, wet conditions); generally recoatable after 16–24 hours.
- Wash equipment immediately after use with white spirit or turpentine substitute.
