Ultra-Fast Hydraulic Binder for Stopping Active Water Leaks

Mapei Lamposilex is an ultra-fast-setting hydraulic binder designed to stop active water leaks immediately, including water entering under pressure. When mixed with water, the pre-blended powder forms a plastic, thixotropic paste that is easy to shape and apply to cracks, holes and rigid joints.

Suitable for basements, tanks and other below-ground structures, Lamposilex sets in approximately one and a half minutes at 20°C. Once cured, it provides a waterproof, water-repellent repair with high early compressive and flexural strength.

Surface Preparation

When treating a leaking crack or hole, enlarge the opening into a dovetail shape so that its widest section is inside the substrate. The external opening should measure at least approximately 20 mm wide and 20 mm deep. Remove all loose, weak and friable material from the cavity.

For rigid joints, remove degraded material and thoroughly clear away dust. Saturate the prepared area with clean water, then remove any unabsorbed water before application. The ideal substrate should be fully saturated but have no visible surface water.

Mixing

1. Place 280 g of clean water into a suitable container for every 1 kg of Lamposilex.
2. Gradually add the Lamposilex powder while stirring.
3. Mix manually with a trowel until a smooth, lump-free paste is obtained.
4. Prepare only enough material to use within approximately one minute.

For volume measurement, mix approximately 2.5 parts Lamposilex powder with one part water. Do not add lime, cement, gypsum or other materials to the mixture.

Stopping an Active Water Leak

1. Shape the freshly mixed Lamposilex by hand into a plug resembling a cork.
2. Wait a few seconds until the mixture begins to stiffen.
3. Force the plug firmly into the prepared crack or hole.
4. Maintain pressure for approximately two to three minutes until the material has set.
5. Remove excess hardened material using an abrasive disc or suitable mechanical method.

Where several leaks are present, begin with the highest leak and work downwards.

Sealing Rigid Joints

Apply the freshly mixed Lamposilex immediately using a trowel or float, pressing it thoroughly into the prepared cavity. Keep the completed repair damp for the first 15 to 20 minutes.

Application in Different Temperatures

In warm conditions, protect the product from direct sunlight and use very cold mixing water to help maintain sufficient working time. In low temperatures, use water at approximately 20°C and store the product in a heated, dry location before application, as cold conditions will delay setting and curing.

Cleaning and Storage

Clean Lamposilex from tools with water before it begins to harden. Once set, the material can only be removed mechanically. Store unopened packs indoors in a dry location and protect them from moisture, direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Important Information
